- Subscriber information: When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address. If you subscribe by authenticating via your Google, GitHub, or X account, we collect your email address through the respective OAuth process, with your explicit consent.
- Referral Information: If you use our "Refer a Friend" feature, we collect the email address you provide for your friend to send a one-time invite.
- Usage data: We may collect anonymized data about how you interact with our emails (e.g., open rates) to improve the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Send you our weekly newsletter with AI-generated summaries of arXiv papers.
- Facilitate subscriptions via Google, GitHub, or X authentication by retrieving your email address to add you to our subscriber list.
- Process "Refer a Friend" invites by sending a one-time email to the referred friend.
- Analyze usage (anonymously) to enhance the Service's quality.
- Respond to your inquiries sent to our contact email.
3. How We Share Your Information
We don't sell or share your personal information, except in these limited cases:
- Service Providers: We use third-party services like Mailgun to send emails. Mailgun processes your email address securely under Mailgun's privacy policies to deliver our newsletter. Additionally, we may retrieve you email address for subscription via Google, GitHub, or X. Each securely handles your email address under their own privacy policies: Google's privacy policy, GitHub privacy policy, and X's privacy policy. We ensure all service providers comply with applicable data protection standards.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
4. Data Retention
- Subscriber Information: We keep your email address, whether provided via our webste or retrieved via Google, GitHub, or X authenticaion, until you unsubscribe. Upon unsubscribing, we delete your information within 30 days.
- Referral Information: If you refer a friend who doesn't subscribe, we delete their email within 30 days of sending the invite.
- Usage Data: Anonymized data may be retained indefinitely but can't be linked to you.
5. Your Choices
- Unsubscribe: You can stop receiving our newsletter anytime by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email. Unsubscribing will delete your email from our records regardless of subscription method (e.g. through our site or X authentication).
- Google, GitHub, or X Authentication: You can revoke our access to your Google, GitHub, or X account at any time through your the respective account settings, which will prevent further data access.
- Referrals: Don't want to receive referral invites? Reply to the invite email, and we'll ensure no further invites are sent to you.

5.1 California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you're a California resident, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we collect about you (e.g., your email address and subscription details).
- Request deletion of your personal information (e.g., by unsubscribing or contacting us).
- Opt out of any sale of your personal information (note: we do not sell your data).

5.2 EU Privacy Rights (GDPR)

We take reasonable steps (e.g., encryption, HTTPS) to protect your information, like using secure third-party services (e.g., Mailgun). However, no system is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute protection.
6.1 Data Breach Notification
In the unlikely event of a data breach involving your personal information, we will notify affected users promptly, as required by applicable laws (e.g., California Consumer Privacy Act, GDPR). We will also take reasonable steps to mitigate harm and prevent future breaches.
7. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States under U.S. law. If you're outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If we learn we have, we'll delete it promptly.
